Commercial renovation information should also be accessible.

Accessibility issues are important to us. We have made the commitment to make this site accessible to persons with disabilities.

Accessibility Features and Access Keys

Our visitors should be aware of the accessibility features used on this website.

For visitors requiring enhanced visual screen display, we provide both a Large Font and High Contrast optional display. Visitors using hand held devices to access our site can also use the Portable display style. Printing any page is easier if our visitor uses the Print Style option before printing.

We employ links (within the text information) to related topics on our site and to other sites. Use the [Backspace] key to return to your previous position if you follow a link. The text information links are easily recognized when you first enter a page. If you have not already visited the target page, the links are darker and in a slightly smaller type font than the surrounding text. After visiting the linked page, all other links to that page turn light grey to show the visitor that they have been there. When you focus or mouse over a link, it changes color.

Access Key List

We employ access keys for simple navigation and user controlled screen display options. All access keys are lower case letters or numbers and are identified by an underline. You can return to this page by pressing alt + a on any other page.

Accessibility Policy.

We are committed to maintaining a Website that's easy to access and navigate, for all our visitors.

We designed our Accessible Website to:

— produce web pages that validate to W3C markup standards.

— Provide user controlled screen display options at the top of every page to comply with international standards and guidelines for website accessibility of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), an organization that develops protocols to ensure the long-term growth of the Web to be accessible by disabled users, or those who use screen-reading software.

For our visitors with vision impairments, we recommend using the high contrast screen display ( alt + 3) style to improve visual accessibility.

— employ accesskey navigation for keyboard only users.

— optimize text legibility by using Arial as the standard alternate stylesheet font style

— support Windows (98, 2000, NT, XP and ME), MAC (OS 8.5 and above) and Linux operating systems

— eliminate horizontal scroll bars at any screen resolution (above 400px wide).

— provide images with an alternative text attribute.

— design page sessions that have no time limit

— be continually improved for information content and user accessibility.

Commercial renovation accessibility issues.

In recent years, most local building bylaws have made provisions for increasing accessibility to all commercial buildings. Before assuming that you can simply renovate an existing commercial space without upgrading for wheel chair access, check with your local building department. Washrooms, entrances and corridors need to allow sufficient clearances for persons in wheel chairs. You could be in for an expensive surprise, if you don't.

Beyond your legal responsibilities, making your business accessible could also be a profitable decision.

Browser note:

Internet Explorer users will need to also press enter to complete the jump to an access key link destination. Mozilla (and Firefox) users will jump immediately when using an access key. Opera users will need to escape Opera's accessibility features before using our access keys.
